War in Burma
Jungle Hospital
Deep in the mountainous jungles of Burma lies a hospital where doctors from around the world risk their lives to volunteer their time and talents to care for the sick and wounded. Smuggled in to Burma, also known as Myanmar, from one of the neighboring countries, Western doctors and nurses will spend anywhere from 1-3 months teaching Burmese medical students from across the country how to practice trauma medicine for the many war-wounded that find their way there.
Burma, located in Southeast Asia, has been in the grips of a civil war that began in 1948…the same year Harry S. Truman was elected President of the United States.
